Take your garden hose and splash water on the jet nozzle from the backside o to the bushing while you run the motor on land.

You didn't answer what the upside is to the cutlass bearing over the stock greased bushing.

If you use water on it before you start the bike it will last 20 + years. When the bushing gets worn the wear ring and impeller start to deteriorate.
